WHERE IS THE MERAKI CHRISTMAS MINI-FESTIVAL LOCATED?

We’re located at the very heart of the St Albans Christmas Market – in Vintry Gardens, just outside the cathedral.

It can be accessed on foot via Waxhouse Gate (from High Street) or Sumpter Yard (from Holywell Hill).

Once you locate the cathedral, just walk around it until you see the walled gardens – it’s opposite the rear entrance to Lussmanns Fish & Grill.

ADDRESS: Vintry Garden, Sumpter Yd, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL 1 1BY

WHEN DOES THE MERAKI CHRISTMAS MINI FESTIVAL RUN?

It opens on Thursday, 24 November and runs every day until the market closes up on Sunday, 18 December.

WHAT ARE THE OPENING HOURS?

Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday: 11am – 6pm
Thursday / Friday: 11am – 8pm
Saturday: 10am – 8pm
Sunday: 10am – 6pm

LATE OPENING: Please note – the market is open until 8pm on:

Wednesday 30 Nov for our Blues Special featuring Simon McBride & Jo Harman.

IS THERE ONSITE PARKING?

There is no vehicular access and no onsite parking within the cathedral grounds, but there are a variety of on-street parking spaces, as well as multi-storey and short-stay pay-&-display car parks located around St Albans. As we’re located in the heart of St Albans, (right next to the cathedral), you can park in one of the many car parks and easily walk to our location.

HOW MUCH DO THE ACTIVITIES AT THE MERAKI CHRISTMAS MINI-FESTIVAL COST?

Everything in our lineup of entertainment and activities is COMPLETELY FREE.

There are no admission charges and no additional costs for individual activities.

HOW CAN I TELL WHAT WILL BE HAPPENING EACH DAY?

Please refer to our online programme which lists the performers, movies and activities that will be featured on each day.

DO I HAVE TO BOOK ACTIVITIES?

Activities that we have provided are open to the public, but they operate on a first-come-first-served basis.

For something like a Christmas movie, getting there early will allow you the pick of the best seating.

For workshops, lessons and performances, we will simply create a queue system within the festival.

The Meraki Christmas Mini-Festival will run alongside the St Albans Christmas Market – an event that is being run by St Albans District Council.

At St Albans Christmas Market, visitors can enjoy browsing high quality produce in up to 60 traditional wooden chalets outside the Cathedral and in the Vintry Garden. The pretty Cathedral quarter sits right at the centre of a triangle of St Albans ‘oldest’ treasures: the only working Medieval Clock Tower; the oldest Public School in the country; and (for visitors to the market who fancy a pint of real ale) the oldest pub in the UK – Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, just at the foot of the Abbey Orchard, a stone’s throw from the Cathedral.

Entertainers, twinkly lights and plenty of Christmas cheer will add to the festive atmosphere – don’t miss Carols on the Hour, on the hour, every hour from 11.00 to 16.00 on the last Saturday before Christmas in St Albans Cathedral. enjoystalbans.com
