ST ALBANS, AL3 7PT
From Matthew Lowe (Keston Cobblers Club) and Daniel Trenholme, comes the new alt-folk duo Stables.
Stables was formed in January 2016 during late night drinks between Matthew and Daniel in London. Matthew was working on a new project idea at the time and, after playing through what was to become their first single, ‘Steam’, at 5 am, the duo was born, and quickly went public four months later. ‘Beyond Brushes’ (their debut album) was released to critical acclaim just nine months after, in August 2016, and was championed by the likes of BBC’s Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson, and BBC6 Recommends amongst others, soon establishing them firmly on the circuit, with a growing fan base.
Just a month after the release Matthew and Daniel embarked on their first UK headline tour, followed by a small French headline. Stables put emphasis on ‘energy’ when playing live; switching instruments and producing the sound of a full band, with big harmonies and varied styles. Matthew says; ‘I always wanted to create a simple sound that could then be taken further when needed, from a small folk club, to a large festival stage’. Stables have gone on to tour the UK further, performing at major festivals including Glastonbury Festival, and now have a full European headline tour announced for Autumn 2017.
Stables’ second album, ‘Reverie’, has been announced for release at the end of February 2018, and has been tipped to surpass their debut. ‘We’re incredibly proud of this record and can’t wait for people to hear it’. Matthew calls it an ‘almost break up album’ that he wrote whilst in a ‘period of relationship unrest, which resolved during the process’. ‘This is the album we always wanted to release when we first imagined Stables. We love our debut, but this feels like the sound we always set out to produce’. Visit the Stables Website.

In a galaxy not so far away, in a time not that long ago – legendary music mogul Simon Cowell said of Britain’s Got Talent “If we could find Stormtroopers who could dance … then this show is going into a different league” – then once Boogie Storm had finished their now legendary audition and he had used his golden buzzer without hesitation: “My dream has come true, thank you”.
It’s an accolade that few can match, and even fewer can beat – but for Boogie Storm, it was the beginning of what has since been a rollercoaster of a journey.
Dressed head to toe in iconic white Stormtrooper outfits, the six members of Boogie Storm are a force to be reckoned with. Crushing dance routines so tight they’d impress Yoda himself, the group have accumulated over 50 million YouTube hits to date, and there seems to be no sign of them slowing down. Having reached the live final and finished third in Britain’s Got Talent’s 10th anniversary in 2016, the troop have now been nominated for the best performance of 2016 at the National Reality Television Awards, as the accolades just keep on coming.
Being invited to dance at the official Star Wars wrap party with Ellie Goulding is now seen as just a scratch on the surface for Boogie Storm; they have had the honour of performing at Anfield in front of nearly 50,000 people in their home city of Liverpool, and with their reputation reaching galactic proportions, they also unleashed an interstellar performance at the AEO awards in London.
You could say that the force is strong with Boogie Storm, and you’d be right.

Seb Wesson’s acoustic folk stylings hint at an alternate reality where the nimble fretwork of Richard Thompson found itself on the American alternative rock scene of the 90s. Sweetly sung melody and beautiful harmonies drag over effortless guitar picking with the fragility and laid-back cool of a romantic slacker dream. A unique fusion of styles, his songs are a soundtrack to love, loss and watching moments pass across a lazy, hazy summer.
Seb plans to release the follow up to the Tigers EP (released in 2017 after a successful Kicksarter campaign) later this year and the debut album the following year in 2018.
