In 2017 Meraki is bringing a 3-day interactive music festival to St Albans.

Meraki will feature a line-up of top live music acts across three major music stages, with special features and creative spaces around the festival for everyone to enjoy.

Our activities are all-inclusive – once you’re through the gates, you can enjoy all of our festival features for no extra cost!

Tent Plots – Meraki festival tent plots are measured out at 6x4m. (If your tent is much bigger than 6x4m – please email us pre-festival to advise us that you will require a larger plot). PLEASE NOTE: The following tickets are an add on and are only valid when used with a Standard Camping ticket.

PRE-ERECTED TENTS: You get a dedicated plot, a pre-erected tent (pitched and ready on your arrival). This is an add on and you pay per tent NOT per person.

THE RAINBOW FIELD (This is an adults-only field): This add-on includes a dedicated plot, a pre-erected rainbow mini tipi (pitched and ready on your arrival). This is an add on and you pay per tent TIPI, not per person.

THE LOLLIPOP FIELD Is a premium camping field and offers the following services: A dedicated plot, a pre-built festival hut (ready on your arrival), reception, double bed & mattress (no linen) hay bale seating, festival goodie bags, charging station. This is an add on and you pay per hut, not per person.

LUXURY LODGES This is a glamping field and offers the following services: Reception & Dedicated Entrance // One Parking Space (next to the glamping field) // Use of Festival Trollies // Access to a Shared Phone Charging Station // Access to a Shared Pampering Station (Hairdryers & Straighteners) // Private Breakfast Zone // Heated & Managed Shower Blocks // Private Glamping Toilets // Festival Gift Boxes // Dedicated Glamping Support Team. This option is for 2 or 4 persons sharing a luxury bell tent, the bell tent has enough space for a small child’s bed and there is no extra charge for up to 2 children under the age of 5, but please note that children’s beds and bedding is not supplied. This price is per bell tent, NOT per person.

ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE TIMES

Standard campers can arrive from 12:00 noon on Thursday 10 August to set up. Campsite entertainment will run from 18:00—22:00 with a small selection of food and drink available.

Departures  – all campers must be offsite by 12:00 noon on Monday 14 August.

No campers will be allowed to arrive at the site on Friday 11 August between 16:30 – 18:00 (This is for public safety, due to the high volumes of rush hour traffic around the festival grounds.)

No campers will be allowed to leave the site on Monday 14 August between 08:00 – 09:30 (This is for public safety, due to the high volumes of rush hour traffic around the festival grounds.)

Once you have booked your parking ticket, you will receive a confirmation advising you as to which gate you should arrive at.

Your car parking pass (which must be displayed in your car window), will be sent to the card address used when booking your tickets. Please expect this two weeks prior to the festival opening.

By Train:

Our Festival shuttle buses will take the hassle out of getting to Festival for local attendees and here at Meraki, we believe in putting our community at the very heart of the festival. With hourly pickups from several locations and a drop-off point inside the site, they offer a convenient (and great value) service for local people wishing to make trips to and from the festival.

  • It’s simple. You’ll get picked up from a local stop and dropped right at the centre of the festival, then picked up and taken home from the same place when all the fun is over.
  • Our drivers know exactly where they’re going, so you don’t need to worry about getting lost, stuck in traffic or getting a fine for using the Sat-Nav on your phone whilst driving.
  • Days of sunshine, music and sleeping in a field can take their toll on anyone. Put safety first and let someone else do the driving while you snooze on the way home.

How much does it cost?

For tickets booked in advance the online cost is as follows:

  • £5.00 for a Day Return Ticket (£10 on the day)
  • £10.00 for an Unlimited Weekend Pass

You will also be able to purchase tickets (with cash only) on the bus if seats are available at £10 for Day Returns or £20 for the Unlimited Pass.

Under 18s ride for free but will still be required to book a ticket online so that we can estimate numbers and ensure passenger safety.

Where can I hop on and when will the buses be running?

Buses will depart on the half hour from stop one and will continue to loop through the day for the following times:

  • Friday 11 First Bus departs stop one at 9.30 am. Last bus departs the festival at 12.30am
  • Saturday 12  First Bus departs stop one at 9.30 am. Last bus departs the festival at 12.30am
  • Sunday 13 First Bus departs stop one at 9.30 am. Last bus departs the festival at 11.00pm

How will the service work?

  • Decide on which day or days you will want to travel and purchase your ticket/s online here.
  • Download and print your unique QR-coded ticket – make sure you bring this with you for checking on the bus. If you have brought an Unlimited Weekend Ticket, you will be given a wristband for future rides on the bus when your code is scanned.
  • There is no need to book onto a specific bus, as this will be an hourly hop-on service – just look out for the Meraki branded Bus Stops at the pick-up points at the times specified on the timetable above.
  • Enjoy the ride – we’ll see you at the festival!

  • Child tickets are for anyone within the specified age range on 07/08/2017.
  • No person under the age of 18 years is allowed on site without an accompanying adult (over the age of 25). A maximum of 3 teens per adult.
  • Children under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times while on site.
  • All young adults (aged 13 to 17) MUST camp in the same area as their families with a maximum of 3 teens per adult (over the age of 25).

We want the MERAKI Music Festival to be an event that everyone can enjoy and will do our best to ensure the site is as accessible as possible to our deaf and disabled visitors. We are working with Attitude Is Everything towards achieving Bronze on their “Charter of Best Practice”.

PLEASE NOTE: The last date for submission of 2017 Access Requirement Form is Monday 17 July 2017.

ACCESS REQUIREMENT FORM AND FREE PA TICKETS

If you are a disabled customer and require full-time assistance at the festival, a free Personal Assistant Ticket will be provided on production of the completed ‘Access Requirement Form’ together with the appropriate evidence of disability as requested.

There are no separate tickets for disabled customers and you may purchase your ticket through any of our authorised agents. You will then be able to apply for your Personal Assistant’s free ticket via the Festival Office. If you are bringing a disabled child or teen under the age of 16 that requires our access facilities, you will need to purchase a full-price ticket. Our festival terms and conditions state “Any child under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.”It is not the case that the Child Ticket enables the parent or guardian to request a free carer ticket.

You can apply to use the Disabled Access Facilities and Disabled Access Campsite regardless of the age of the disabled customer. Please submit the necessary documentation with your application form.

Please include a copy of one of the following documents with your completed form:

  • DLA/PIP or equivalent
  • Deaf or Blind registration
  • Recent letter from the DWP stating that you are entitled to DLA/PIP (2016/2017)
  • Alternative evidence to support your claim.

Blue Badge – this alone will not entitle you to a PA/Carer ticket or to park in the accessible camping field, but it will allow you to use any disabled parking bays in any designated car parks. Please remember to contact the Access team for an application form for disabled parking bays so we may provide you with the appropriate pass.

All access forms with proof of disability should be submitted by Monday 26 June 2017. This will assist us when event planning.

PLEASE NOTE: Accessible facilities are only available for persons with permanent disabilities.

If you are unable to provide evidence of disability, you will not be entitled to a free ticket for a personal assistant. Once all documentation has been received and processed, you will receive confirmation by email.

VIEWING AREAS/PLATFORMS

There will be viewing areas or platforms to enable viewing of the stages – these are most relevant for use by wheelchair users and those unable to stand for long periods. These customers will be given priority in accessing the viewing platforms or viewing areas and seating will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis. Please check with the Information Tent for any changes to viewing platforms/areas during the festival. Accessible toilet(s) will be located close by.

If you require access to this area, please apply via the Access Requirement Form. We will then provide you with a pass to access these areas. Stewards will be placed at these locations for your convenience and safety.

Your personal assistant or a family member/friend will also have a pass for access to the viewing area when accompanying you. Please note that during extremely busy periods, we may ask your PA/Carer to move to the back of the platform/viewing area if you do not need direct one-to-one support, this does not apply to children as they must be accompanied at all times.

ACCESS TO PERFORMANCE

Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to offer British Sign Language / Captioning / Audio Description, however, this may be available at future MERAKI Festival Events. There will be an Access Information point with a portable induction loop system available for hearing impaired customers. More information on this will be included in your information pack, to be sent to you via email (or post if requested) a few weeks before the festival date.

STROBE LIGHTING

PLEASE NOTE: Some of the music performances may include strobe lighting. There will not be a warning immediately before a period of strobe lighting. We will endeavour to provide general warning signs around the main stage if strobe lighting is to be used.

ACCESSIBLE CAMPING AREA

When you complete your Access Requirement Form, please state if you will require weekend camping facilities. Due to limited spaces within the Accessible Campsite, we would ask that each disabled customer have no more than three other people (including your personal assistant), camping with them. Should you have a larger group, please contact us directly and we will be happy to try and accommodate your needs.

There will be availability for campervan and caravan parking within the Accessible Camping Area. You will need to purchase a permit for this parking facility when you purchase your preferred tickets. Spaces on site will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. We cannot guarantee such parking spaces in this area, unless passes have been purchased for your vehicle.

PLEASE NOTE: You will not receive your parking permit for the Accessible Campsite until you have completed the Access Requirement Form and it has been approved.

Further information will be available on request and included in your information pack.

WHEELCHAIR CHARGING

There will be 24-hour access to power for wheelchair charging. We will not be responsible, however, for equipment left at this charging point, equipment left at the charging point will be ‘at the owners own risk’.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING

Accessible parking will be available for blue badge holders in designated car park areas, and will be positioned as close to the festival arena as is possible, the blue badge alone, however, does NOT entitle the holder to park on the accessible campsite parking area. Please contact the access team for a pass to use blue badge parking and if you require any further information. Further information will be forwarded to you in your information pack prior to the festival. We will also provide information on public transport options.

ACCESSIBLE TOILETS AND SHOWERS

The Accessible Campsite will have accessible toilets, and standard toilets. There will also be accessible toilets placed around the festival site.

Should you require accessible shower facilities, please state on your Access Requirement Form or contact the Festival Office for further information.

ASSISTANCE DOGS

We welcome assistance dogs onto the site and an area will be provided for toileting purposes. Please state on your Access Requirement Form if you will be bringing an assistance dog with you to the Festival.

MEDICAL SERVICES

Should you need refrigeration facilities for medication, please let us know in advance when you complete your Access Facilities Requirement form.

There will be a first aid tent within the main arena and medics/first aiders on hand and patrolling the festival area.

INDUCTION LOOPS

There will be an access information point with a portable induction loop system available for hearing impaired customers.

INFORMATION PACKS

Once you have purchased your ticket, and your Access Requirement Form has been approved, we will forward any relevant access information in the information pack, including transport options, maps, where to go on arrival and which entrance to proceed to.

1       Purchase your festival tickets. Disabled customers aged 18 or over will need to purchase their own adult event ticket. Please DO NOT buy a ticket for your PA as this will NOT be refunded.

2       Please complete the Online Access Requirement Form.

3       If you cannot complete the online form, please download the PDF version, print it out, fill it in by hand and either scan and email it (with scans or photocopies of accompanying evidence) to Julie@Merakifestival.com or post it to Meraki Festival, 47a Bancroft, Hitchin, SG5 1LA.

4       When your Access Requirement Form has been approved, we will send your personal assistant ticket, information pack and any purchased permits.

Your information pack will be sent by email unless instructed otherwise, and you will receive this a few weeks before the festival date.

CAMPSITE RULES:

  • Campers are allowed to bring their own food into the campsites.
  • Campers are allowed too bring alcohol into the campsite. Alcohol must be brought in either cans or plastic bottles – glass is strictly prohibited and any glass receptacles will be confiscated at the gates.
  • Each camper is allowed to bring a maximum of 1 Litre of spirits and a maximum of 12 plastic bottles /cans of alcohol.
  • Once campers have entered the festival with alcohol, they will not be allowed to re-enter with additional alcohol.
  • Campsite access – campers are free to enter and leave the festival, but can only access vehicles during car park opening hours.
  • We ask that all campers stay onsite between the hours of 21:00 – 10:00(am) and only leave the site when absolutely necessary.
  • Campers are NOT allowed to use barbecues on the campsite  – this counts for any kind of barbecue – gas, charcoal or single use.
  • Campers are allowed to use small gas cooking stoves – but only single flame units for boiling a kettle or heating a single pan.
  • All litter from the campsite must be placed into litter locations or taken away from the site by the end of the festival. – Fines of £200 will be issued to anyone found leaving litter on site.
  • Under no circumstances can any tents be left behind at the festival – a fine will be issued for any tents left on the festival grounds.
  • All children under the age of 16 must be camping on the same plot or immediately adjacent to their parent or guardian.
  • Speaker systems are NOT permitted on the campsite.
